Finding Time To Do Important Activities
61The world we live in is one of motion and busyness. We fill out daily schedules up with a myriad of tasks and activities. Some of them important, others well, not so much. Removing some of the less meaningfull commitments from your life might be a great opportunity to find time for the more meaningful time in life.
What is meaningful time?
In my opinion, meaningful time can be categorized in one or more of the following ways:
- Quality time with family and friends
- Productive time that results in progress, profit or other forms of measurable results
- Time spent on enhancing your well being or health
- Time spent on things you enjoy and that make you happy
As time passes this year (2010), I'm committed to filling my day up with more of time that goes with the above descriptions. What about you?
Here are some tips to find some extra time in your life and/or increase the quality and meaningful time during your day:
- Leave work at work
- Check your email at defined times rather than being "always on"
- Set aside intentional time for your loved ones
- Turn off the TV
- Turn off the computer
- Get out and exercise - better yet, do it with your spouse
- Explore a new skill that you want to learn - and then learn it
